Females remain smaller and are usually grey to brown with faint barring

🌍 Occurrence (Natural Origin)

Endemic to Lake Malawi, East Africa

The “Jalo Reef” name refers to a specific geographic locality within the lake

Inhabits rocky reef and shoreline zones, typical Mbuna habitat

Lives in shallow, wave-washed areas with abundant rock crevices for shelter

This is a true wild locality form, not a hybrid or aquarium strain.

🎨 Appearance

Adult males typically display:
